While of course photography is really all about the end product, for me personally I thoroughly enjoy the gadget and gear side of the experience. When I was getting into photography I was particularly interested in finding out what gear my favourite photographers used. A lot comes down to personal choice, but I did find it helpful to understand where others had landed. So I'd like to share my gear with you - in case it helps you in any way on your own journey.

As you'll be able to see, I am a big fan of Canon. The first DSLR that I picked up was a Canon EOS 400D around 2005. I'm ashamed to say that I never really learned how to use it properly and didn't get much beyond kit lenses. I started to get into photography properly in 2017 after my wife bought me a 'learn to use your camera' course for my birthday!

It was quickly clear that if I wanted to really invest in this new hobby, the 400D wouldn't cut it. As luck would have it there was an opportunity to pick up a second-hand Canon EOS 6D being sold, barely used, by a Scottish professional photographer called David Wheater and I jumped at the chance.

Four year's later - and fully committed to photography now - I've decided to join the mirrorless revolution and invested in the kit that I hope will support me now for a long time to come!
